David Walliams holds book signing for Banstead Guides

Little Britain star and sporting hero David Walliams is holding a charity book signing to support Banstead Guides in their bid to build their new headquarters.

Walliams, who was brought up in Banstead and is best known for his roles in sitcom Little Britain with comedy partner Matt Lucas, began his publishing career in 2008 and released his fourth children’s book earlier this year.

Gangsta Granny follows the adventures of Ben and his grandma, who was once an international jewel thief, and is on a mission to steal the Crown Jewels.

The comedian’s mum has been a Brown Owl for over 20 years with the Girlguiding Banstead District which needs to raise £200,000 to fund the replacement of its headquarters building which is in desperate need of repair.

They have already raised £100,000 but need to raise the rest to ensure the building plans can go ahead in summer 2012.

In September, Walliams swam 140 miles up the River Thames raising over £1m for Sport Relief. The event, which will be held at the Epsom PLayhouse on Sunday, November 27, will start at 5pm followed by a book signing at 6pm.
